The first and most important thing to know is that the galleries are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. You don’t need to be a member or pay to visit and view art.
This beautiful building is actually two buildings that were combined by the former governor of NY, Samuel J. Tilden.
The members club is one of the oldest in NYC and has featured many famous artist as members. If you are able to get invited my a member to dine or have a drink I would put it on your vision board for the year. It really is a special place.
My son and I saw a very pleasant exhibition of American impressionist painters. The building is a pretty old house, a bit musty. The most interesting bit is that such old member clubs still exist, complete with member only dining rooms. Righ next door is another one, the Players, club. I would have loved to know who the members are, but the guard at the door just said: " All kinds ". It was the last hour of the last day of the impressionist exhibition, so I think he wanted to home. go
Beautiful building and an art collection worth visiting. I visited to attend a stellar musical performance. Another NYC gem that i somehow missed in the decades living here.
Lovely building next to the Gramercy park.
The gallery was free to visit and there was a beautiful exhibit or impressionism art when I went.
I absolutely loved the tour at The National Arts Club thanks to Open House New York weekend. Chien was very knowledgeable and i enjoyed learning more about Samuel Tilden’s house
This place is amazing they have more than 15 committees representing art at large and programs/lectures varying from architecture, photography, painting, moving image, book signing, fashion, music just to name a few! The food is outstanding since Chef Lynn from the MoMa joined a couple years ago, the parlors are just exquisite and the staff is so friendly you feel at home the minute you walk in! They even have a key to Gramercy Park for members😊
Gorgeous brownstone facing Gramercy Park, with a fabulously appointed Victorian interior, that houses free art shows and many interesting cultural events. The bar, with its stained glass ceiling and some other parts of the building are only open to members- occasionally they are accessible on Open House days. Always worth a visit!
Spectacular space draped in history and filled with various art . Everyone that works here is friendly . You feel special being in these walls . The event I attended was free with optional donation . Throughly enjoyed the talk on fashion by the three costume designers . Was just long enough & very interesting . Can’t wait to come back .
